J.P. Blevins has attained both outstanding athletic and scholastic achievements. JP is a native son of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He established a benchmark of success in Metcalfe County High School, being named first team all state in his junior and senior years by the Lexington Herald-Leader, the Louisville Courier Journal, and The Associated Press; was named to the all-district team five consecutive years, all-region team for four seasons, the All-Class A region tournament team five times and the Class-A all-state tournament three times, earned academic all-state honors in 1996, 1997, 1998, as well as breaking the all-time scoring and assists records at M.C.H.S.
J.P. was a member of the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team for all four years of his college career, lettering each year; distinguished himself as being the Wildcat’s top three-point shooter and free-throw shooter in 2000; earned the respect of his fellow Wildcat teammates culminating in the honor of being chosen as team co-captain in 2001-2002. JP distinguished himself academically by earning Academic All-Southeastern Conference honors for three consecutive years and by being named to the University of Kentucky Athletics Director’s honor roll for five consecutive semesters; graduated magna cum laude in Communications in 2002.
