From Players, Coaches and Parents

We choose JP's camp every year because he teaches our son Vincent the total fundamentals of the game. We like his attention to teaching the game and his eye for detail. I would highly recommend JP's camp to any young person inspiring to take his or her game to the next level.

My 9th grade son Tyler said he's learned more in the past two forty-five minute sessions about fundamental basketball than he's ever learned. He has always been naturally athletic and has shown the potential to be talented, but has never really been taught the skills. I think he's always been willing to work and to learn, but in a normal setting with lots of boys/players and peers that can be difficult to accomplish from both a coaching and player perspective. I am sure that his coach will see that he has benefited from some extra training during the off-season.

My son attended the JP Blevins camp and had a "ball". His self-confidence grew right along with his skills. JP is a positive, caring and motivating coach. My son wanted to succeed and learn while continuing to love the game. The best thing about JP's camp verses other camps was there was no pressure on the boys. It was just an opportunity to learn the game, increase each child's skills, and have a good time with a great coach. My son was ready to do it all again when the course ended....that says it all!! Thank you JP!

JP's experience, style of teaching and his ability to connect with kids has been a blessing to our son Taylor. He is a better ball handler, has more confidence with his decision-making and understands the game at a higher level than he did before working with JP. The fact that JP only works with a few kids (2 or 3) at a time differs from most instructors and he is able to evaluate where your son or daughter are in their skill level and adapt his instruction accordingly. As an added benefit, JP has been an excellent role model for our son. He understands basketball won't last forever but can be a great tool for building character in kids. Taylor has grown as a person and a player and loves his sessions with coach Blevins.

Each of our sons have attended the course and both had very specific items that needed work. From shooting position for the freshmen player to foot positioning for the 6th grade "post" player. JP's course was extremely effective! JP has outstanding credibility with our boys, which made them not only enjoy practice, but also want to come home and work the drills before next practice. JP worked them hard and focused on results, so they could see themselves improving. That went a lot further toward making them want to learn more every lesson.

Will learned how to face the basket and become more of an offensive threat. I have seen improvement in his shooting and ball handling. He learned how to practice shot mechanics and make corrections. The one-on-one and rebounding drills helped him to become more physical. Heading into high school, it helped him get ready to compete with older kids. Like most Dad's, I did my best to relay what had been taught to me and what I thought was right. With JP, I had the comfort of knowing that he had a top-notch "basketball education" and had learned the game under some great coaches. All of the basketball fundamentals were taught, and more importantly, drills and practice methods were provided to reinforce what was learned.

My son (now an eighth grader) has attended JP's "Player Development Course" for two consecutive years. I have found each session to jam-packed with drills---very little sitting and watching like you see in other courses. I have been particularly impressed with the hands on attitude of JP. He works with each player individually to ensure that everyone gets the benefits of his expertise. My son thoroughly enjoys each workout and comes home exhausted every week. I would highly recommend JP's course to players of any skill level.

JP’s Course differs from all the others because of the one-on-one experience with an expert who seems to love the game. Most camps we have attended, have placed a large number of players in a room with one expert and lots of young people around to babysit. This course felt like our son was pushed the entire period and he loved it. He was given constant guidance and encouragement. He found positive things to say at every lesson, but he always left him with a specific challenge. One significant contribution that JP has given our son is showing him that hard work is the key to success, not whether he is athletically gifted or not. What a great coaching concept.
